Sesquicentennial State Park

Hey there! Today we visit Sesquicentennial State Park. This large park is a beautiful getaway right outside of Columbia. Everything you need for a day in nature or a camping getaway is here. The day use area is very large and close to the lake, there are lots of picnic areas and several pavilions. They even have a doggy park!
The lake is large, you can rent boats if you didn't bring yours! There's a small man made "waterfall" as well.

There are plenty of trails to enjoy, we didn't hike them all but still hiked over 3 miles! They are mostly flat and well maintained. You can loop around lake or explore out from it.
This park was a surprise as we didn't think there would be such a nice getaway so close to a large city. We visited this park in fall, we ended up with a lot of pictures! Scroll down to see a few more pictures. Be sure to read all our state park adventures on this blog, and then visit our website to see the pictures that didn't make it in the blog, and in higher resolution (Blog pics are reduced quality to help with space/load times). Fine art prints are available for purchase at our site also.
