Little Pee Dee State Park

Hey there! Today we visit Little Pee Dee State Park. When we visited, the dam at the lake was destroyed by hurricane Matthew, so the lake was down. They have several trails but only one was open at the time. The main park area is nice, they have a few picnic areas and a pavilion - they even have a "selfiespot." The campsite was closed when we visited.

You can see from the pictures, the dam was in bad shape, from what I've read it has been repaired and the lake is back up. It looks like a decent lake, perfect for kayaking and small boating. They even have a small boat ramp.

We hiked almost 4 miles. The trail was nice, and mostly flat. There are a few park benches along the one trail and a small primitive camping area near the end. The trail we went on is not a loop, you go back the same way you came in.

This is a nice little state park, nice for a day trip or overnight stay. As always I ended up with more pictures than room, so be sure to scroll to see a few more pictures. Myrtle Beach State Park

Hey there! After a long pause, and a lot of changes we're going to finish up this state park blog! Today we're going to visit Myrtle Beach State Park. This was soon after the hurricane, so some of the park was closed but we did get to camp the night and enjoy the beach!

The campground is nice and easy to find, after entering the park just follow the signs!

The campground isn't right on the beach but it's close enough to hear the waves, just a short walk! There's a nice boardwalk from the parking lot to the beach and along the beach.

There's a nice pier you can enjoy or fish from.

There's not much as far as trails go, but with the beach, pier and boardwalk you won't miss them! There's still plenty to enjoy at the park. Right next to the grand strand makes it the perfect place for a beach adventure!

Huntington Beach State Park

Hi there! Today we visit Huntington Beach State Park! We visited here soon after the hurricane so we weren't able to see the whole park. There were several parks we were not able to see much of due to the hurricane. After we're done with our parks we'll write a post about them and what we could see.


The couple of places we could access were the main building, the beach and Atalaya Castle. The main parking lot gives you access to the beach, castle, trails, and main building. There is a gift shop at the building and a small trail right behind it.


The trail is short and runs to a pavilion on the lake. It's a short trail and very easy, this was the only trail open at the time.



The pavilion is nice and goes out into the lake a little. You get a good view of the local wildlife as well as Myrtle Beach.




Next to the gift shop is Atalaya Castle, this is well preserved and really neat. It does cost a few dollars extra to tour, but well worth it!If you visit this state park make sure you take the tour!








Of course you have to spend some time on the beach if you go to this park!





With all there is to see and learn here this park is really worth a visit. What we did see of the trails were well maintained and informative.
